Col. David Abba, 53rd Wing commander, and Chief Master Sergeant Kathy McCool, 53rd Wing command chief, thank Air Force Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Stephen W. Wilson for visiting the 53rd Wing at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, Jan. 8, 2019. During the visit Wilson toured the 53rd Electronic Warfare facilities to gain a better understanding of EW readiness. The 53rd Electronic Warfare Group has 28 labs that replicate the hardware for over 30 weapon systems where all EW reprogramming for Combat Air Force aircraft takes place. The 53rd Wing has 74 units in 23 locations responsible for fighter, bomber, space and remotely piloted air vehicle operational testing and evaluation, and tactics development and evaluation in the areas of electronic combat, armament, avionics and aircrew training devices.
