EGLIN AFB – Staff Sgt. Jacob Bedford, 16th Electronic Warfare Squadron, keeps a close eye on a jamming POD as he and a team from the 16 EWS demonstrates loading the POD under a wing of an F-16 during the 53d Wing 2007 Spouses’ Appreciation Day, May 11. More than 70 spouses turned out for the day that was geared to give spouses a chance to experience the 53d Wing’s mission and a special behind-the-scenes VIP tour, designed especially for them. The jampacked itinerary gave them a glimpse of what the unit does in the warm Florida sun as well as “chilling out” at temparatures well below freezing at the base’s McKinley Climatic Lab. Wing spouses visited the 85th Test and Evaluation Squadron to get a first hand look at the wing’s jets. To include experiencing the firepower of the A-10’s gun, flightline taxi rides in an F-16 and an F-15E and opportunities to fly the F-15C simulator. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt.
