EGLIN AFB -- More than 70 wing spouses gathered in front of the F-22 display outside the 53d Wing headquarters May 11. The spouses took part in the wing’s 2007 Spouses’ Appreciation Day. The day was geared to give spouses a chance to experience the 53d Wing’s mission and a special behind-the-scenes VIP tour, designed especially for them. The jampacked itinerary gave them a glimpse of what the unit does in the warm Florida sun as well as “chilling out” at temparatures well below freezing at the base’s McKinley Climatic Lab. Wing spouses also visited the 85th Test and Evaluation Squadron to get a first hand look at the wing’s jets. To include experiencing the firepower of the A-10’s gun, flightline taxi rides in an F-16 and an F-15E and opportunities to fly the F-15C simulator. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt.
