DET deactivation

Lt. Col. Henri Castelain, 28th Test and Evaluation Squadron commander, rolls up the flag of Detachment 2 while Lt. Col. Collin Smith, Detachment 2 commander, waits to put the cover over it during the inactivation ceremony Sept. 26 at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. The 28th TES Det. 2 had 32 people assigned to the detachment. The detachment conducted testing on programs such as F-35, AIM-9X, F-15 Operation Flight Program, ALQ-188 Electronic Warfare Pod, and MC-130 ALQ-69A Radar Warning Receiver. The original unit, the 4750th Test Squadron, was activated Sept 1, 1956. The inactivation will save the 53d Wing nearly $350,000 a year. Air Force photo by Isaac Gibson.
