53d bowls another CFC strike to pass last year's mark Published Nov. 20, 2006 By 1st Lt. Andrew Gertig 36th Electronic Warfare Squadron EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- All of the pledge cards have been turned in, all the money has been counted and the 53d Wing has raised an amazing $79,800. This figure tops last year's total of just under $79,000 and was made possible through our record-setting participation rate of 70 percent and 100 percent contact rate. It is an understatement to say this has been an extremely generous year for our wing. Our campaign flowed as smoothly as it ever has, if not more so and this is largely a credit to the volunteers who gave their time and efforts to this cause. Col. Dean Clemons, 96th Air Base Wing commander, consistently referred to our volunteers throughout the campaign as the "ten-percenters" and the "go-getters." From my own experience with these individuals, I can say that without a doubt these are some of the hardest workers I have ever met. I would like to say thank you to the volunteers who helped make this our most successful campaign to date and would also like to thank all the commanders in the 53d Wing for making CFC a priority this year. Most of all I would like to thank the men and women of the 53d Wing for your extreme generosity and self-sacrifice.
