Colonel McElroy left the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., to take the position. The EWG will become the 68th Electronic Warfare Group in October when it moves to Air Force Cyber Command. Hometown: The Bronx, N.Y. Number of years in the military: 21 Family: Wife and two sons How does it feel to be a new Group CC? It's great to work alongside true warriors and professionals, I'm awed to be the new commander for a group of this high caliber. What are your goals/agenda during your time as commander? Our Air Force is constantly changing, but we have to stay focused on our mission. I want to mitigate the effects of change in order to allow the men and women of the 53d EWG to focus on our mission. What is one particular life lesson you've gained from your time in the military? Mission is paramount, but if you take care of the people, the people will take care of the mission. What type of hobbies/activities do you have outside of work? I try to remain athletically active in most all sports. My latest passion is paintball, something I enjoy playing with my boys.
