Evan Thompson, son of Kathy Thompson, 53d Wing Staff, got a first-hand look at the Joint Strike Fighter after flying in the Lockheed-Martin’s simulator Wednesday at the 33d Maintenance Operation Squadron training hangar. “It was awesome—it was more high tech than I though it would be,” said the 14-year-old freshman, who’s enrolled in aeronautical courses at Choctaw High School and aspires to design jets or related software. “It was amazing the control panels didn’t have as many switches or dials as compared to the F-15. There was only one screen in front of you where you could access everything you needed.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Samuel King Jr.)
