53d Top 4 chooses new leaders Published Jan. 12, 2007 By Tech. Sgt. Andrew Leonhard 53d Wing Public Affairs EGLIN AFB, Fla. -- A new year and new leadership will guide the 53d Wing Top IV through 2007 as the new executive committee was voted in last month. The new officers are: President - Tech. Sgt. Sean Minear, 16th Electronic Warfare Squadron Vice president - Tech. Sgt. Kevin Hopkins, 36th Electronic Warfare Squadron Secretary - Tech. Sgt. Jeff Parker, 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron Treasurer - Tech. Sgt. Chris Simpson, 28th Test and Evaluation Squadron The 53d Top IV is an organization made up of noncommissioned officers from technical sergeant to chief. Its mission is to support enlisted and retired members of the 53d Wing, and enhance esprit de corps by supporting recognition programs, conducting hails and farewells, developing leadership qualities, and supporting selected initiatives and functions. These initiatives and functions go outside the gates as well. "We're active in the local community through various activities for Bob Hope Village, Covenant Hospice and others," said Sergeant Minear, who served as treasurer last year. "This is more than just a bullet for me, it's truly a position I wanted to fill." The Combat Shield NCOIC added that he hopes his enthusiasm and leadership promotes the Top IV and increases its membership. The vice president, Sergeant Hopkins, believes a good mix of compassion and patience for the Top IV can benefit the group. The mission data specialist considers mentorship and recognition to be some of the top priorities for the Top IV. "The Top IV promotes the art of mentorship in the 53d Wing," said the Pagosa Springs, Colo., native. "We help remind our members of the importance of strong but compassionate leaders. Taking the time to recognize a job well done or to lend a hand to a subordinate goes a long way toward building a better force. Through recognition programs, morale events and donations, the Top IV enhances the well being of not only the 53d Wing, but the base and community surrounding it." The Top IV kept busy during 2006 with fund raisers, golf tournaments, cookouts and hosting professional events such as the Senior NCO induction ceremony and NCO induction ceremony. The next general membership meeting is Feb. 14 at the Eglin enlisted club starting at 3 p.m.
