warrior of the week Published April 6, 2007 OFFUTT AFB, Neb. -- Name: Greg Heurter Unit: 29th Test Systems Squadron Job: Chief, Operating Location AF Hometown: Buffalo, N.Y. If you could go back in time - what time would you go to and where? Why? I would visit Athens in the 5th Century BCE to observe first hand the purest form of democracy and perhaps the highest level of culture ever achieved in the Western world. Also, I think I could get a good price for my digital watch. What world landmark would you go see if you could? I would visit the tomb of Alexander the Great, if they could ever locate it. What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation is three weeks in a Tuscan villa with my wife. We are gratefully accepting cash contributions and credit card information. Favorite book? Why is it your favorite? My favorite book is "Leaves of Grass" by Walt Whitman. I am strongly sympathetic with his view of man and the cosmos. Dog or cats? Why? Although I generally prefer dogs, my favorite pet was a black cat named Amber for her yellow eyes. The animal was half wild and the toughest beast in the neighborhood; we lived next door to dog owners - and it was the dog owners that complained. What is your most valuable material possession, why is it so special? I value a photograph taken of my late father when he was 12 years old. It's good to remember he was once young and happy. If you could have dinner with any three LIVING people other than your family, who would you choose? Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto, former NY Yankees shortstop; Woody Allen; and Charlie Rangel, congressman from Harlem, N.Y. What movie star do you have a crush on, now or when you were younger? I've always had a soft spot for Natalie Wood. And the attraction may be hereditary if I correctly interpret my teenage son's interest in the movie Gypsy. What was the best advice your mom/dad gave you? The best advice I received was not to be complacent when things seem too easy; be prepared for the rough spots that are sure to be just ahead. If you could pay someone to do one thing from your daily routine, what would it be? Let me do the cooking, but please - anybody - do the washing up!
